D&E’s Goux Performing, Teaching at Illinois Dance Series

ELKINS – Davis & Elkins College Adjunct Professor of Dance Laurie Goux will perform and instruct as the featured dance artist at Southern Illinois Dance Company, a part of the Southern Illinois University Department of Theater. Her visit is in conjunction with DUODANCE, a program that highlights emerging and independent choreographers.

On Monday, February 3, Goux will be the main performer during the SIU African American History Month celebration. Later in the week, she will lead workshops in Dunham Dance Technique and lecture on Yanvalou, a supplication dance made iconic by Katherine Dunham.

At D&E, Goux also is co-director of Appalachian Ensemble dance troupe.
