10:00 AM – 8:00 PM – New & First-year student check-in.  Check-in @ Halliehurst; proceed to offices
Check in and receive your Orientation materials and other important information.  Residential students will receive their room key in the Office of Student Life.  After you’ve checked in, take some time to explore the various restaurants in downtown Elkins and checkout what the community has to offer.

7:00 AM – 5:00 PM – Caboose Open

9:00 AM – 9:00 PM – Cadillac Daddy’s & C-Store open

9:00 AM – 7:00 PM – Bookstore Open

4:00 PM – 5:00 PM – President’s Reception – Halliehurst Porch

5:00 PM – 8:00 PM – Italian Buffet in Benedum Dining Hall – Students use meal swipe
Parents & Families $10.00 cash per person

9:00 PM – 10:00 PM – First Floor Meetings in Darby & Roxanna Booth Residence Halls

10:00 PM – Residence Hall Activities – Get to know your residence life staff and fellow residents through an interactive evening of games, food, and prizes.

10:00 AM – 12:00 PM – First Year Orientation Activities – Myles Center for the Arts, Senator Commons – All first-year students must attend.

12:00 PM – 1:00 PM – Lunch in Benedum Dining Hall

2:15 PM – Resident Assistants take Students to Library Bridge for Matriculation Convocation Processional All new students gather for processional walk into Harper-McNeeley Auditorium –  All first-year students must attend.  Please wear your Senators in Session t-shirt.

2:45 PM – 4:00 PM – Matriculation Convocation – Address given by Missy McCollam – Myles Center for the Arts, Harper-McNeeley Auditorium

4:00 PM – 6:00 PM – Shuttles offered for downtown Elkins tours and Walmart runs
Meet at Halliehurst Outdoor Recreation Activities
Meet at Martin Field House – Enjoy outdoor activities and experience our Elkins community.
Shuttles will be offered to downtown Elkins.  We will also offer the opportunity for students to go on hikes, canoe, or paddle boat.

5:00 PM – 9:00 PM – Cadillac Daddy’s & C-Store Open

9:00 PM – 10:00 PM – ThinkFast® Game Show – Myles Center for the Arts, Harper-McNeeley Auditorium
ThinkFast® is an interactive trivia game show where students can play in teams to answer a variety of questions all in a fast-paced environment.  A standard pop-culture ThinkFast® show incorporates trivia about topics such as sports, music, TV, Movies, celebrities, general entertainment topics, pop icons, academic topics like art, literature, science, math, geography, and history. All ThinkFast® shows incorporate a minimum of 6 Top 40, Urban, Rock or Mainstream Radio music videos that challenge participants with related questions. Also included in the array of content are “ThinkFaster” segments, where the participants must answer five (5) questions, each worth 1000 points in four (4) seconds. Shows also incorporate ESP style questions into the game, that’s when we survey an audience and follow up with a question as to what the audience answered in the previous survey question. Example: What’s more important, book smarts, or street smarts? After the entire audience has voted, we follow up with the ESP style question. Of the 92 accumulated votes, how many players said book smarts? The players who guessed the actual amount would receive 1000 points, and descending point values for those who came close. Great way of exposing social norms.

10:00 AM – 5:00 PM – Returning Students Arrive – Check-in @ Halliehurst; proceed to offices
All returning students must attend. Check in and receive your welcome back materials and other important information.  Residential students will receive their room key in the Office of Student Life.  Students with holds on their accounts will need to visit those offices to be cleared prior to moving in to their residence hall.

11:15 AM – 1:00 PM – Brunch in Benedum Dining Hall

1:00 PM – 4:00 PM – Leading the Way First Year Seminar – Harper-McNeeley Auditorium
All first-year students must attend.

4:00 PM – Sunday Night Light – Robbins Memorial Chapel

5:00 PM – 9:00 PM – Cadillac Daddy’s & C-Store Open

10:00 AM – 4:00 PM – Bookstore Open

6:00 PM – 8:00 PM – Playground on the Plaza – Myles Center for the Arts Plaza
Presented by the Office of Student Life, Student Assembly, and Senator Entertainment. Get ready for a fun-filled evening with inflatable games (Obstacle Course, Gladiator Joust, & Bungee Sports Challenge), tie-dye event, and photo dry erase boards. Enjoy a BBQ dinner at the Caboose!  Please note, the inclement weather location with be in the
Senator Commons.
