Davis & Elkins College welcomes Kyle Busing, PhD, as Associate Professor of Exercise Science for the 2024-2025 academic year. Busing further bolsters the Education & Sports Science department with more than 25 years of direct field experience in college and university settings.

Busing began his postsecondary education at the University of Northern Colorado, where he would earn a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology. It would be here that Busing would continue forward in pursuit of both a Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in Kinesiology, and Exercise Science and Sport Pedagogy, respectively.

“Joining the Exercise Science faculty at Davis & Elkins College was exciting to me because I felt I was joining a community where passion for health and wellness meets a deep commitment to student success,” says Busing. “I also felt this community would support my love for the outdoors, allowing me to blend my professional expertise with a lifestyle that embraces nature and adventure.”

Busing has taught a number of existing undergraduate courses, as well as playing a pivotal role in the development and introduction of many others. His exemplary works and research have been recognized through more than 25 publications and presentations at universities, conferences and conventions.

“Dr. Busing is an experienced and accomplished faculty member and administrator who possesses a strong background in curriculum development, pedagogy and assessment,” says Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Rob Phillips. “His ability to offer effective courses across the discipline and breadth of research and academic interests is an excellent fit for our growing Sport Science programs.”

Busing’s teaching interests involve psychological components of behavioral change, self-regulated learning and attribution training, and research methods and statistics, among others. He has served as Member, Advisor and Director on various university committees and organizations for 15 years, and boasts myriad leadership, advisor, director and supervisor roles in community service.
