The Davis & Elkins College Concert Choir will present a message of light, hope and the birth of Christ during the Festival of Carols at 7 p.m. Dec. 4 in Myles Center for the Arts Harper-McNeeley Auditorium. Previously performed as a Festival of Lessons and Carols, the program was paused due to the pandemic and resumes this year with a new name and location.
In addition to the musical selections, the evening will include a Christmas message from D&E President Chris A. Wood. The Rev. Dr. Peter A. Vial will serve as liturgist.
“The choir has not had a Christmas choral event since 2019 and we are very excited to share our gift of music with the community this holiday season,” said Choir Director Liz Marshall MacVean. “We have missed performing, especially during the holidays. As we make our return, the choir in song will bring messages of hope and peace.”
Accompanied by pianist Donna Baroudi Huffman, choir members Jackie Wright of Salisbury, Maryland, and Tyler McCune of Richwood will perform “O Come All You Unfaithful” by Bob Kauflin and Lisa Clow, and Anna Ruf of Belington will perform “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day” by Mark Hall, Dale Oliver and Bernie Hems. The choir will present “Amen! Tell it on the Mountain” by Mary McDonald.

A reception will follow in The Joni and Buck Smith Arts Forum sponsored by the College’s Fellowship & Faith group, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Campus Spiritual Life Office. The evening’s offering will support the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church Food Bank.
